I've been absent from DA since I moved to London, pretty much! I'm in London now. It's insane. Uhhh if you requested to add any of my art to community galleries, sorry I missed those! Feel free to request again if you want and I'll accept them. Otherwise I'm too lazy to like, submit them. :

I write about my adventures in London here: bowtiesare.blogspot.com/

I write about everything ever on twitter: twitter.com/megsauce/

Heya guys! I'm offering up $25 portrait commissions like the latest deviations in my gallery. If you're interested, check out my blog for more details, or email me at white.duck@gmail.com.

These commissions are for money for groceries, laundry, gas, and other essentials. My boyfriend and I moved to Oregon a while back, and are still looking for work, so I figured I could help us out a little with some art.

Thank you so much guys!

I never read fanfic. I never do. The only fanfic I've read and really liked, that I can recall, is Shoebox Project. UNTIL NOW. I'm addicted to Holmes/Watson fanfic, fanart, and creepy fanvids. I feel 16 again; it's amazing! Link good fics and fanart!

So, I'm thinking about investing in some Copic Markers. I've seen some really great art turned out by those things, and I'd like to give them a try myself. Problem is, I'd have to order them online, because they're not carried anywhere in town (plus I think they're imports anyway?). Anyhow, I have a few questions for you guys, if you know anything about it!

Firstly, what's a good place to order Copics from? I'm looking to buy individual markers so I can pick and choose colors I'll use a lot, rather than the 12 set or whatever they have to start out.

That said, what are some good skin tones to buy? I'm thinking E000 and E00 (?); I read a couple places that they're good for a pale skin tone (which I use most). But, any other suggestions?

Also, is there a certain kind of paper I'd need to buy to get the best use out of Copics? I generally draw on plain old printer paper, but I'm not sure if that would work for these. No idea.

And finally, is it even a good idea to buy these markers if I don't even know much about marker coloring in the first place? I've seen a few tutorials on youtube, but those were all by professional manga artists and whatnot, and I'm afraid I'd completely botch anything I tried to color with them.

Thoughts? Suggestions? I thought this would be the best place to ask for advice! Thanks guys. :)

I've recently observed that my pencil drawings are much better than my digital drawings. This is annoying, because I have no scanner, and I'm about to start work on a comic with my friend Adam. All the comic art will be digital, but I feel like a fart because my digital work is so much worse than my traditional work. Like, way WAY worse.

When I work with my tablet, for some reason I always have a very hard time with proportions and anatomy. I just can't see it right on the computer screen, for some reason, whereas on a piece of paper I can see it all quite clearly: how things should look and go together, and what bits are off and need fixing. On my tablet, I'll be working on a drawing I think is great, and then when I'm done with it, I stand back and think, "this is HORRIBLE!" Most recently, my deviant ID. I like it okay, but when I started, it looked much better than it turned out to be. The head is too big, the hair is too stiff and lifeless, blah blah. More problems exist, but I don't feel like rambling about them. Thing is, I didn't notice any of this until after I was done.

How do you digital artists do this? Is there a trick to not sucking at digital art? I'm just... I'm baffled. And extremely frustrated, because the only work that gets represented on DA is my digital work, and it is so much less pleasing to my eye than the drawings in my moleskine, for example.

I'm just frustrated and I don't know how to proceed. Suggestions?

I couldn't very well leave that Twilight drivel on my main page, now, could I? So here is a list of fanart that I plan on doing in the near future, so I don't forget after going to sleep tonight.

- Sabriel (never enough)
- Biting the Sun
- Twilight *cringe*
- The Canterbury Tales

Yes, the Canterbury Tales! There is not nearly enough fanart of this, guys. Is there even a Chaucer fandom? There bloody well should be. If there isn't, I'm starting it RIGHT NOW.

Not that anybody cares, except probably the people who are waiting for their art, but! I fixed my tablet! I poked the settings in control panel until it did things that I liked. I have no idea what exactly it was that fixed it, but I will not question destiny.

Speaking of ~*~destiny~*~, can we all agree that Twilight is the best thing ever to happen to mankind? Not just book, but thing. I can't think of anything else that would be best. Maybe puppies and/or rainbows.

Srsly though guys, Edward is so loving and beautiful. I wish my boyfriend prevented me from seeing my werewolf friends and hugged me to his cold granite-hard body. I also wish my boyfriend wore white turtlenecks and was obsessed with my blood-smell.

The end.

p.s. I will draw other stuff when I'm done reveling in Twilight fanart guys, sheesh.

Okay so I fixed photoshop. But now my tablet won't work! Whenever I click on a menu in photoshop or anywhere on the computer, it will open and then close again immediately. My tablet pen isn't clicking right. It draws fine, but won't click on anything. Wtf? I think it's doing something weird, like when I touch the tablet, it is like... holding the click down, instead of clicking once and then letting up. If that makes any sense. Has anybody had this happen to them? Do you have any suggestions?

I already reinstalled my tablet and downloaded the drivers from Wacom.com, and it didn't help. :

UGH I just want to draw! I owe like 50 people art, and I want to do Twilight fanarts gaaahhh! :C

So, I got a new computer. My Photoshop Elements 4.0 won't work on my new computer. I guess it was registered to my old one? and I don't know how to fix it. This is extremely distressing, because I did art on there! And now I can't do art! I downloaded Elements 6.0, but it really sucks, and I can't make it work like I could get 4.0 to work.

So, does anybody know where I can acquire a... *cough* inexpensive version of Elements 4.0? I would be endlessly grateful. I can't do art until I can get it. ;_;

In other news, yay art trades. I want to be drawin' a lot more, so this is good.

Anyway, I won't be doing any art while in California, but I will be taking pictures! Maybe some photography will show up in here? (probably not)

In a fit of boredom and inspiration, I made a WoW blog! It seems silly, but I really think I'll enjoy working on it.

I've been wanting to start a blog for a while now, but I couldn't think of a niche that I could fit into. I also really wanted to be able to post cool photographs I'd taken, but I'm not really that great with photography, and my daily surroundings are less than aesthetically pleasing.

Then I thought I might like to write about WoW, but from a different perspective. I considered writing about being a girl in WoW (boring and probably overdone), or maybe even an "Azeroth fashion" blog, where I had my characters try on different gear and talked about which sets looked best on which race, blah blah blah. But I don't know enough about specific gear to be able to write about it at length or with authority.

After a while I gave up on the idea for the most part, and set it on the back burner. Then a couple days ago I was bored one night, and was looking through my recent WoW screenshots. I realized that a lot of them were really pretty, and I wanted to share them with somebody. I thought about posting them to my livejournal, but I had a feeling nobody there could care less about my pretty WoW pictures. How could I share the beautiful side of WoW with people who might actually care?

And then I remembered the blog. The abandoned blog I'd made maybe a month ago, Conjured Manna Biscuits. The title wasn't specifically related, but I figured since both of my 70s rely heavily on Manna Biscuits, and most of my screenshots would probably involve my 70s, I kept the name.

Anyway! Long story long, I decided to make the blog a tribute of sorts to the beauty you can find in WoW. Most of the people playing the game probably don't pay attention to how amazing the sunsets are on the coast of the Hinterlands, or just how pretty it is when priests cast Circle of Healing (all the shiny golden lights!). I want to bring those things to the attention of people who already play the game, and even those who don't. Maybe I can show people that there are more aspects to WoW than just the addictive, competitive, and typical "gaming" ones.

So, as a result, the blog is a "celebration of the aesthetic value of World of Warcraft." Because really, that's why I play the game in the long run. It's pretty, it's cartoonish, it's detailed and shiny and it keeps me entranced.

Go check out the blog if you're interested! It's brand new, but I plan to update as much as I can. Stay tuned.

I thought it would be a good time to advertise for commissions.

So, I haven't done any art in a really long time. I feel barren. Well not really, but I still miss it a little! I just haven't been bitten by the bug.

Instead, I've been saying goodbye to friends who are graduating (and leaving for the Peace Corps! O_o), celebrating my birthday, and stressing about my job/s and living situation. Once my summer gets on a roll, I'll start updating again. I assume.

Also, is it weird if I just give a shout-out to my boyfriend? Because, word "shout-out" aside, he deserves credit for being a pillar of love and stability during the past few stressful days for me. He has always been such an amazing source of calm and perspective in my life, ever since I've known him. There are few people in the world who make me feel so loved, appreciated, and accepted no matter what; and he is one of them. If you ever happen upon this, Greg (and I'm sure you will once I tell you to look here lawl), I love you! Thank you for being the best boyfriend in the world. <3
